Boys High school basketball
If someone had walked in nike free 3.0 run 2s on the Adams boys basketball team following its game at St. Joseph on Friday night, they might have thought they'd entered the wrong locker room.
Rather than reveling in a 59 52 victory that improved their record to 6 0, the Eagles' players were subdued.
On Tuesday, it was Riley that turned a 10 point halftime deficit into a 12 point fourth quarter lead. The Eagles went on a huge run late to hold on for a five point victory. But they apparently hadn't learned their lesson.
Against St. Joe, Adams built a 15 point lead at the half, only to see the Indians air jordan 5 retro whittle it down to three late in the third quarter before the Eagles regained their composure.
"We've got to start playing better in the third quarter, because we just have not come out (to play)," said Adams coach Milt Cooper on Friday. "We've had that problem, and I don't know (why)."
Part of the Eagles' problems Friday stemmed from an inability to knock down long distance shots, coupled with a poor showing on the boards.
Adams, which remained unranked but received 20 points in this week's Class 4 A poll, hit just 3 of 19 attempts (15.8 percent) from 3 point range and was out rebounded 35 21.
"We're just pressing. We're pressing a lot," said Terry Davis, who led the Eagles with 20 points Friday. "That offense out there, that's not us. Not at all."
Adams can take solace in the fact that it's undefeated including 2 0 in the Northern Indiana Conference without playing well for an entire four quarters. But the coaches and players know they have a lot of room for improvement before the season kicks into high gear.
"Basketball is like one of those inch worms, where you get better and everybody else gets better," Cooper said while inching his finger along an invisible plane. "We have been lucky enough to win when we have been struggling. . We have to get better if we're going to continue to succeed."Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball coach Bill Patrick will try for his 700th career cheap nike free run win Friday in the first round of the Winning Edge Holiday Tournament at Tippy.
Patrick is in his 44th year of coaching and is ranked fifth in Indiana in career wins.
